Directions:
Tokyo is connected by a vast network of highly efficient train and subway lines. Taxis are convenient but can often take longer to reach your destination and is fairly expensive. It is recommended that you get a Tokyo train/subway map at the airport or at your hotel. When using the train system, keep your ticket as you will need it not only to enter the station but also to exit.

Via Inn Oimachi Hotel

From Narita Airport to Oimachi, where the hotel is:
1) take the JR Narita Express train to Shinagawa Station (approximately 65 min.)
2) At Shinagawa, transfer to the Keihin-Tohoku Line in the direction of Oimachi, Omori, Kamata, Kawasaki (platform 4.)
3) Get off at Oimachi which is one stop from Shinagawa (approximately 5 min.)

*When you purchase your Narita Express ticket, it would be convenient to also get a “Pasmo” (or “Suica”) debit card which allows you to take the train without purchasing tickets at the station ticket machine. There is a down-payment (500 yen?) which you can reclaim when you turn in your card at the end of your trip. I would suggest putting in 2000~ yen in the card initially.

From JR Oimachi Station to Ours Inn Hankyu Hotel:
There are two exits at Oimachi Station when you get off the Keihin-Tohoku line. Please take the main exit (Chuo Exit). When you come out of the ticket wicket, go right and take the stairs on the left down to the street level. Immediately across the street at the bottom of the stairs is the Single wing of Ours Inn Hankyu Hotel. If you look right, you will see a building with a blue “T” and that is the Twin wing. For both, the lobby is on the 3rd floor.

Walk straight up the street along the train tracts and you will see a Seven-Eleven convenience store on the right. The hotel lobby is on the 3rd floor of that building.

Oimachi to ELSI/Tokyo Tech:
Take the Tokyu Oimachi Line to Ookayama Station. The Tokyu Oimachi line departs from a different station from the JR station. Please ask the hotel for directions — it is very straightforward and close. You can take either the Local or Express trains as both stop at Ookayama (approximately 8~10 min.)

We recently had a few cases, that visitors from abroad purchased tickets to Okayama(岡山), via bullet train (Shinkansen), instead to Ookayama (大岡山). When you purchase a ticket to Ookayama station (大岡山), we suggest you tell station staffs the railway line ” (Tokyu) Oimachi Line” together with your destination place “Ookayama station (大岡山)”. Please avoid buying a ticket to Okayama (岡山), about 730 km (455 miles) from Tokyo.

From Ookayama station, here is a link that shows the walk through the campus to the ELSI building. The walk is about ten minutes.

EON admin office is in ELSI-1 building, room 323.

Cash Withdraw:

Many Japanese bank ATMs to do accept international bank cards for cash withdraw. Japan Post ATMs and those inside Seven-Eleven convenience stores accept international cards.

**A gentle reminder

Please bring your laptop power cords, especially for the new Macs with the USB-Cs as we do not have any to loan.
Also, the Japanese power outlets are two pronged (not three, or w/o ‘ground’ prong) so please check if you will need to bring an adaptor head.

**Please read the following IMPORTANT information**

If your flights to Japan are delayed or cancelled for any reason, please work directly with the airlines to get reassigned to other flights as the university travel agents will NOT be available to assist during campus holiday.

Please email us if you will be delayed and need to change your hotel bookings. Otherwise, that night of hotel will need to be paid out of your per diem.

If you will not be able to make your booked flight for any reason, please contact the airline ASAP. Otherwise, your ticket will be treated as a “no show” and the whole ticket will be cancelled and become invalid for rebooking or refund.
